Whoa! Now tea for the face? What is next?
Teas such as Green Cherry Rose, Rose Green, Rosemary Mint Green and Love Lavender work great with Witch Hazel for a face wash.
Green tea has been found to soothe skin due to its anti-inflammatory properties.
This tea-witch-hazel mixture cleanses oil and dirt buildup and closes pores and tightens skin and is an astringent. It will not be soapy or foam up but is as effective as store-bought face wash.
Yield about 2 cups
2 c. filtered water
2 T. witch hazel
2 tea bags from the above-mentioned selection
Bring water to a boil and pour it over 2 tea bags in a pint-sized canning jar. Let the infusion steep and completely cool to room temperature, then take out the tea bags squeezing out the liquid. Add witch hazel. Stir.
Use daily as needed as an astringent and a toning face cleanser. Store in refrigerator. It will last about 1 week.
Green tea bags can be also used for eyes. The bags can be brewed drinking the tea, the bag then cooled, and squeezed to remove excess liquid. Put the bags into the refrigerator for 10-20 minutes. Place upon your eyes for up to 30 minutes to help the skin around your eyes and reduce any puffiness or skin inflammation.
