Rooibos and Honeybush

Rooibos means red bush and grows in South Africa. Its leaves are used to make caffeine free tea.

Honeybush also grows in South Africa and is a cousin. Both are similar in benefits without caffeine.

Leaves are high in antioxidants and are anti-inflammatory. The anti-spasmodic compounds can help alleviate abdominal pain such as stomach cramps and promote healthy gut. Both herbs help keep blood levels in check. They also contain Leptin and according to studies may benefit weight management. Leptin is a hormone that helps us regulate food intake.

Rooibos is delicate and has sweet earthly flavors. Honeybush is a rich earthy brew with honey overtones and its name suggests. These herbs do not get bitter no matter how long we brew them, and both should be brewed for at least 5 minutes.
