Life Enhancer

Ginkgo is a 200-million-year-old tree and is known for its odd scent, double-lobed leaves and fruits that ripen to an apricot color. The name comes from the Chinese " Yin Guo" or hill apricot.

Helpful in allergies, asthma, congestion, circulation, and also is tonic for a healthy heart and brain. Studies have shown that Ginkgo simulates circulation to the brain and extremities and relieves symptoms of disorientation, memory loss, anxiety and headaches.

Ginkgo has so many benefits. It is known to have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant properties and may increase energy. Historically it has been used as a natural remedy for ADHD and dementia treatment, as well as promoting recovery from strokes.

Beneficial parts include the leaves and seeds and is generally safe when used daily, unless on blood thinners, anti-depressants and NSAIDS. Check with your Doctor if you are on these medications before taking Ginkgo. Also, no studies have been done regarding small children.

Possible side effects can include digestive issues, headaches and dizziness depending upon amounts ingested. I do include small amounts in some of my herbal teas.
