Lemongrass
I purchase lemongrass plants. It is a tender perennial and requires full sun and moderate to high water requirements.
It grows to 3-4 feet and is a tropical plant. It prefers a climate that is moist and hot but will tolerate warm and dry if it is watered regularly.
All the aerial parts may be harvested from mid- to late summer. The summer heat concentrates the oils and intensity of its flavor. I harvest the leaves with scissors.
This herb is a medicinal food helpful to the digestive tract and also has anti-inflammatory benefits.
The aerial parts can be used fresh or dried.
I love Lemongrass in tea. Try Healing House Herbs Lemongrass Tea. Wonderful!
